Albert Moulton Foweraker was fascinated by the effects of light on the landscape, and particularly lucid blue moonlight. As it shines, here, over the Iglesia de Jesus in Antequera, Spain, it creates a curious, beguiling atmosphere. Based in Devon and then Cornwall he frequently travelled to Southern Spain to follow and capture this mysterious light.
Fowereker took up art professionally in 1898 and was made a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1902. He frequently exhibited there, alongside the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, amongst many others.
